So you've chosen to adopt or purchase a new pet. Now what?
Have you thought about how to prepare your home to keep your new family companion safe? Just like babies & toddlers, who often explore their environment with their hands & mouths, pets (particularly cats and dogs) will want to check out their environment, both inside and out!
In Part 1 of our 2-part series, we will begin guiding you to start viewing the world like an animal.
Where might their curiosity lead them? How can you help them (especially older animals) adjust to the new environment and routine? Where might they try to hide? And what hazards exist in and around your home?
We need to consider all rooms and spaces in and around our homes, including the garage, sheds, and yards. Are there any areas that can be particularly enticing to our pets?
In this episode, we provide some tips on how you can make your home safer and more comfortable. There's a lot more to think about than you might realize.
Don't forget to stay tuned for Part 2 coming soon!
